Udawalawe National Park is one of the best places in Sri Lanka to observe wild elephants in their natural habitat. Known for its vast open grasslands and shimmering reservoir, the park is home to over 500 resident elephants, making sightings almost guaranteed throughout the year. In addition to elephants, visitors may encounter water buffalo, spotted deer, sambar, jackals, and the occasional leopard.
